The Role - Instructional Program Manager

Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Experience, the Learning & Development Manager manages the gsLearn platform, and develops, implements, and updates curriculum projects to deliver relevant trainings to our volunteers and staff. This role is also responsible for ensuring volunteers have flexible and timely training opportunities to prepare for their roles; assessing the volunteer training needs; recruitment and management of the volunteer council training team; and supporting the creation of staff training needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development, implementation, and delivery of high quality, professional trainings
  • Management of the gsLearn platform, including:
  • Review, assessment, and upload of new trainings provided by GSUSA for our council’s use
    • Update of existing trainings to ensure trainings are current, consistent, relevant to learner needs, and align with GSUSA branding, program and council policies, procedures, and goals
  • Maintenance of the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) platform
  • Use of the ActiveNet platform to support registration of VE events (ie LEAP and Expo)
  • In collaboration with the Volunteer Experience team, support of the expo event planning, registration, and implementation of content
  • In collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Experience, support in planning of the LEAP event, lead the registration process, and provide reimbursements to volunteers for this event
  • Oversee the volunteer council trainers, including:
    • In collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Experience and Director of Outdoor Program, the recruitment, onboarding, and delivery of training updates to council volunteer trainer
    • Provide volunteer trainers the tools and materials necessary to deliver effective trainings
    • Manage volunteer training team roster to ensure trainers are optimally utilized and that volunteer training requests are being met
    • Regularly evaluate and provide feedback to volunteer trainers to ensure training quality and consistency
  • In collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Experience, support the development, guidance on instructional design, and implementation of trainings for staff and volunteers
  • Provide reporting to support the efficacy and compliance of trainings, when necessary
  • Serve as council’s subject matter expert for training best practices by attending external educational workshops, reading related publications, and building collegial relationships with training staff from other councils
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required

  • Minimum 3-5 years non-profit experience training adults
  • Minimum 1 year experience with a learning management system
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills; ability to clearly and effectively express concepts and to interact with individuals, small groups, and in front of large audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Strategic thinker, highly organized, demonstrated hands on experience with proven ability to multitask, handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas and processes
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite; CRM knowledge a plus
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must have flexibility of schedule to attend events that periodically happen on evenings and weekends
  • Must be accessible when managing staff and volunteers, occasionally outside of office hours
  • Experience in non-profits a plus
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy, standards, program and systems a plus

Compensation: $58,656 annually
